Junction SL launches this Sunday (7th November) at 2pm – Detailed instructions below…

As our birthday celebrations approach, we are now sending out detailed instructions on how you can join us in Second Life on Sunday 7th November, at the brand new virtual version of Junction.

There’ll be lots to see, do and interact with in Junction SL, including an exhibition of photographs from the real-life construction of the venue, video clips and sound samples from IOU’s Airborne project, and a virtual champagne reception! There’ll be a couple of speeches to officially launch the venue, and an opportunity to roam around the building and check out the life-like quality of this virtual environment. This is also a fantastic opportunity to network and meet new friends, as well as a chance for those of you who have never seen the building in real-life to have a look around and see the facilities on offer.

TO JOIN US ON SUNDAY ALL YOU NEED TO DO IS FOLLOW THESE SIMPLE STEPS:

1. First of all you’ll need access to a computer or laptop.

2. If you haven’t already done so, you’ll need to sign up with Second Life and get yourself an Avatar. This is quick, easy and free. Click on the following link and the Second Life website will guide you through this process (you will also be asked to download the Second Life Viewer – this is the software that will allow you to access Second Life): https://join.secondlife.com/

3. Once you’ve joined up to Second Life, we recommend spending a little time between now and Sunday getting used to moving around. When you first log in to Second Life you will arrive at Orientation Island – which features tutorials and help points for new users, to help you get the best out of Second Life. 4. Once you are familiar with moving around in Second Life you will be ready to visit us on Sunday 7th November. The launch event begins at 2pm on Sunday afternoon. To find Junction simply follow these instructions:

i). AT the top of your Second Life viewer, click ‘WORLD’, and select ‘WORLD MAP’ from the drop down menu.

ii). In the search box (this is the box with the ‘Find’ button next to it) type ‘Nedben’

iii). In the ‘Location’ boxes (there are three of these in a row with numbers in) type ‘248’ in the first, then ‘213’ and ‘112’.

iv). Click the ‘Teleport’ button. You will then be teleported to the front of Junction, where our staff will be waiting to welcome you into the virtual building, and help you find your way around.

SECOND LIFE is an online virtual world, in which users can interact with one another through Avatars (three-dimensional, virtual versions of themselves).
