A JUNCTION GOOLE PRODUCTION

Hansel & Gretel

Tue 12 Dec - Sun 31 Dec
Written and Directed by Tina Shuker-Abell
Design by Caitlin Mawhinney

.

Nibble, nibble, like a mouse, Who is nibbling at my house?

The moon shines bright on the woodcutter’s cottage. But times are tough and the cupboard is bare. A father makes a heartbreaking decision that leads to an epic journey for brother and sister.

Deep in the dark woods, the smell of gingerbread is in the air. Are dastardly deeds afoot?

This Christmas join us as we retell the classic fairy tale from the Brothers Grimm. Our savvy siblings invite you to take a step into their world in this enchanting new version of the traditional tale.

Expect music, magic and tasty morsels of fairytale mayhem that will leave the whole family enthralled.

"Junction’s first homegrown production is a new twist on a Christmas show and the perfect sweet treat for the festive season."

Tom Gallagher
Lewis / Hansel

Hull born Tom trained and graduated from ALRA (Academy of Live and Recorded Arts) in 2021. After learning to combine his singing skills & natural acting ability with his love of playing the guitar he was chosen to perform in some brilliant live shows such as ocho and Teechers the Musical with the esteemed John Godber Company. Tom then starred as Bob Cratchit in John Godber’s production of A Christmas Carol and has recently been seen playing Aidan in Innit Musical at The Lowry in Salford. Tom is proud & excited to perform at Junction Goole.

Alice Proctor
Lily / Gretel

Originally from West Yorkshire, Alice now lives in Manchester (aka the wrong side of the pennines!) after training at Manchester School of Theatre. Alice is an actor, producer and creative practitioner often playing games and exploring stories with children and their grown ups. She has worked with Royal Exchange Theatre, Leeds Playhouse, New Vic Theatre, Shakespeare North Playhouse, Unity Theatre, Hope Mill Theatre and 53two and her TV credits include BBC’s Casualty, Doctors & Brassic for Sky. This is Alice’s first Christmas show and she’s very excited to be in Goole to celebrate.

Gemma Whelan
Grandmother / Fairy Godmother

Gemma is a Yorkshire born and based practitioner who has spent the last 25 years working as a creative, writer, director and actor. Her work has given her great opportunities both in the UK and across Europe. Gemma is thrilled to be bringing some giggles and glitter to Goole this Christmas.

Dame Jemima Quackenden-Downs
Daphne

Dame Jemima will be familiar to many as her illustrious career has seen her top the bill in roles across stage and screen. From an acting dynasty (her father Daffy and mother Daisy already Hollywood icons), Jemima started her career as a young duckling first performing in a retelling of Animal Farm with the RDC (Royal Drakespeare Company) before her breakout role in the Royal Ballet’s Swan Lake showed her true versatility. Her TV credits include Duck 3 in ITV’s Coronation Street, where she could be found eating bread from Roy’s Rolls down at the Red Rec. Of course, it was her Oscar win for Best Supporting Quacktor in the eggcellent Mallard Of The Rings that truly catapulted Jemima to international stardom. Dame Jemima is delighted to spread her wings once again on the stage as Daphne, a role for which she’s delayed a flight south until later in winter.
