Co-host of Sony Gold Award winning BBC Radio 4 series The Infinite Monkey Cage, Robin Ince, joins star of Live At The Apollo and two-time Comedian’s Choice Award winner, Laura Lexx, for the final FREE Your Place Comedy live streamed show, hosted by resident compere Tim FitzHigham.
As well as presenting The Infinite Monkey Cage alongside Professor Brian Cox, both on the radio and in a hugely successful live arena tour, Robin also co-hosts the podcast Robin And Josie’s Book Shambles, which gains over 100,000 listeners a month. As a stand-up he has toured the world and won three Chortle Awards, the Time Out Outstanding Achievement Award and was nominated for the British Comedy Awards’ Best Live Show. Robin has created, curated, pioneered and hosted numerous nights mixing science, music and comedy, including the hugely acclaimed Nine Lessons and Carols for Curious People.
As well as Live At The Apollo, Laura’s TV and radio credits include Hypothetical (Dave), Roast Battle (Comedy Central) and The Comedy Club (BBC Radio 4 Extra). She has twice won Best Show at the Comedian’s Choice Awards, voted for entirely by fellow comics, and landed a coveted place in Dave’s Top 10 Jokes Of The Edinburgh Fringe. Laura recently released her first book, Klopp Actually: (Imaginary) Life With Football’s Most Sensible Heartthrob, after going viral during lockdown with her fictional Twitter thread about marriage to Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp!
Hosted by Tim FitzHigham (writer and star of BBC Radio 4’s The Gambler, presenter of CBBC’s Super Human Challenge and Edinburgh Comedy Award Best Newcomer nominee), this is the sixth and final (for now, at least) live streamed comedy show put together by a group of 10 small, independent theatres and arts centres from across Yorkshire and the Humber, supporting performers and continuing to bring live entertainment to their audiences during some challenging times.
The event is FREE to watch but there will be an option to donate if you have enjoyed the broadcast, with all money raised being distributed equally among the participating venues (including this one!) as they continue to face significant difficulties presenting live events while social distancing regulations remain in place.
THE SUPPORTING VENUES ARE:
Barton upon Humber Ropewalk, Carriageworks Theatre, East Riding Theatre, Helmsley Arts Centre, Howden Shire Hall, Junction Goole, Otley Courthouse, Pocklington Arts Centre, Rotherham Theatres & Selby Town Hall
