Artists from Finland, Spain, Mozambique and the Netherlands will transform our town with breathtaking circus, playful family adventures, larger-than-life walkabout performances and unforgettable outdoor spectacles that have toured internationally before arriving here in Goole.
Whether you’re discovering street theatre for the first time or you’re already a Freedom Festival fan, this is your chance to experience world-class performance right on your doorstep. It’s completely free, family friendly, and a chance to spend the day exploring performances that surprise, inspire and bring people together.

From giant globes to gravity-defying circus, miniature worlds to contemporary dance, every performance offers something different. Wander through the festival, stay for one show or spend the whole day discovering something unexpected.

The full programme runs twice during the day – once between 11am and 1.30pm, and again between 1.30pm and 4pm. You’re welcome to drop in whenever suits you, but to experience every performance we recommend allowing the full two-and-a-half hours.

Do I need to book a ticket?
Whilst the event is free and in a public park, we ask you to book so we can:
- Notify you of any changes, including weather updates.
- Share attendance numbers with our funders to help secure more events like this in Goole.
Where can I park?
West Park has a car park, but spaces are limited. If possible, please walk to the park.
Where in the park will this take place?
The event will take place on the field between the café and the bowling pavilion. Our team will be on hand to help direct you to the right spot!
What happens if it rains?
We’re as prepared as we can be for the typical British summer weather! Performances may go ahead in light rain, but timings may be adjusted. We’ll do our best to keep the show running, but in the case of bad weather (rain or wind) we may have to cancel.
Is there food and drink?
Yes, food and drink will be available! Please support the park’s café and other local pop-up traders by purchasing from them.
What time should I arrive?
We recommend arriving at least 15 minutes before the performance to get settled and find a good spot.
How long does the event last?
The entire event lasts around two and a half hours. We recommend staying for the duration to enjoy all the performances, but you can pop in and just watch one or two! The full programme runs twice during the day – once between 11am and 1.30pm, and again between 1.30pm and 4pm.
What facilities does the park have?
West Park has a cafe and toilets. There is also a playground and Multi-Use Games Area. You could make a whole day of it!
Is the event accessible?
Yes, West Park is accessible for people with mobility needs. We’ll have team members available to assist if needed. There is a disabled toilet on site.
Are pets allowed?
While pets are welcome, we ask that they are kept on a lead and under control, especially during the performances.

Freedom Festival on Tour forms part of Goole 200 – a year-long celebration of our town’s bicentenary. Just as Goole grew through welcoming people and ideas from across the world, this international festival brings artists from across Europe to inspire, surprise and connect communities through shared cultural experiences.
About Goole 2026
A wide variety of partner organisations have come together to plan a programme of events, activities and celebrations to mark Goole’s bicentenary year in 2026. Among them are local businesses and many community and voluntary sector organisations that make up the Goole 2026 Community Group, as well as East Riding of Yorkshire Council and Goole Town Council.
