My Three Words Micro Commission

IOU has been commissioned by Junction, Goole to present My Three Words; a three-part Spring, Summer and Autumn programme to make the most of the unusual and unpredictable art world emerging in 2021. My Three Words makes use of the What3Words app to build connections between online artworks and real life locations in and around Goole.

This call out to professional and non-professional artists and creatives is to make high quality Art Miniatures that can be shared in a new online gallery via Junction Goole’s website. It could be anything: animation, poetry, performance, illustration, cartoon, painting, storytelling, fiction, poetry, installation, music, film, dance, duet, a solo jig and more. We’re excited to see what inspires you.

The artwork produced must be able to be produced in an online friendly format. For example, if you wish to create an installation you will need a photograph or film of that installation to exhibit in an online gallery. Your artwork must also be inspired by a real life location in or around Goole, and will need to work alongside the location’s three word identifier from the What3Words app. We encourage the use of the three word identifiers for each location to be used in the artwork as well as the location. Further information can be found in the Creative Brief and in an explanatory video by David Wheeler, both of these can be found on the IOU website or requested by emailing

IOU will commission five artists in total, with £400 per commission.

Application deadline is Monday 1 March, and the work needs to be delivered by Wednesday 31st March.
