Current roles
Join Junction Goole’s Advisory Board
Junction is Goole’s arts centre – a busy, welcoming space where creativity and community come together.
We’re here to bring brilliant performance, participation and provocation to our town – from great nights out to hands-on experiences.
We host theatre, music, comedy, film, workshops, festivals and family events – and we work with people of all ages to get involved in creative activity, through our extensive Creative Engagement programme.
We’re proud to be a National Portfolio Organisation of Arts Council England, with a mission to make sure culture and creativity thrive in Goole. We are based in a purpose-built venue with a 165-seat auditorium, flexible studio spaces and a café-bar. We recently launched Junction Goole Productions Ltd, a new production company set up to support our growing producing ambitions and make use of Theatre Tax Relief.
What is the Advisory Board?
The Advisory Board is a group of independent, voluntary members who act as a ‘critical friend’ to Junction’s leadership.
It plays a vital role in supporting Junction to deliver its mission and meet the priorities of funders including Goole Town Council and Arts Council England.
The Advisory Board meets quarterly to review reports from the Junction team on progress against plans, finances, policies, governance, environmental impact, inclusivity and more.
It provides strategic oversight, sector knowledge and independent challenge – helping shape the future direction of Junction and ensuring strong performance and good governance.
The Advisory Board is not a legal body – Goole Town Council remains the statutory body for Junction – but it provides advice and recommendations to the Council’s Policy & Resources Committee.
This structure helps ensure accountability while supporting creativity, ambition and community impact.
Who we’re looking for
We are currently seeking a new Advisory Board member to strengthen our skills and better reflect the communities we serve – particularly in the areas of Finance & Legal. We welcome applications from people from all backgrounds, and are especially interested in hearing from individuals with knowledge, experience or lived experience in the following areas:
**Finance** – with Junction Goole Productions Ltd now operating as a separate company eligible for Theatre Tax Relief, we would benefit from financial expertise to help manage budgets, claims, and business planning.
**Legal** – insight into company law, contracts, HR or governance would be highly valuable as we grow our activity and partnerships.
The Commitment
This is a voluntary role. The Advisory Board meets four times a year (usually quarterly), and members should allow around four hours per quarter for reading papers, attending meetings and offering input, and a couple more additional hours each quarter to help in their particular area of expertise.
We encourage members to see shows and activity at Junction when possible, to stay connected to our work.
